P(ractice)A(pply)L(ive) Prompts:

Every choice we make pulls us toward either a virtue that brings lasting reward, or a vice that quietly steals our peace. In this episode, we’re digging into what it means to not just recognize the difference—but to practice, apply, and live out the virtues that honor God and shape us into who He’s called us to be. Use these P.A.L. prompts as a guide to reflect, replace, and grow.

P – Practice (Recognize & Prepare)

  • Reflection Prompt: Write down one virtue you feel called to grow in (e.g., patience, humility, generosity). Then write down its opposite vice (impatience, pride, selfishness).

  • Scripture Connection: Romans 12:21 — “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Ask: Where have I let a vice sneak into my habits or mindset, and how can I prepare to replace it with virtue?

  • Practice Step: Each morning, pray: “Lord, help me choose virtue when I’m tempted by vice today.” Keep your chosen virtue & vice written where you’ll see it often.

Apply (Replace & Act)

  • Challenge Prompt: Identify a real-life scenario where the vice tends to show up (e.g., impatience when waiting, gossip when chatting with coworkers, greed when shopping). Write it down.

  • Action Step: When you encounter that scenario, pause and replace the vice with its opposite virtue.

    • Example: Instead of snapping in impatience, breathe and speak calmly (patience).

    • Instead of comparing yourself to others, celebrate their wins (gratitude).

  • Faith Tie-In: Pray, “God, help me trade the fleeting comfort of vice for the lasting reward of virtue.”

L – Live (Reflect & Reward)

  • Daily Reflection Prompt: At the end of the day, ask yourself: Where did I let vice creep in? Where did I choose virtue instead? Journal one win and one area for growth.

  • Lifestyle Step: Notice the rewards—peace of mind, healthier relationships, stronger faith—that come from choosing virtue over vice. Write down or share how God is producing fruit in your life.

  • Growth Vision: Imagine a year from now: if you consistently choose virtue over vice, what kind of person will you become? What kind of blessings will flow into your family, friendships, and walk with God?

Virtues as seeds that bring lasting reward, and vices are weeds that choke out growth.
