Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

P(ractice)A(pply)L(ive) Prompts:

Who are you trying to blend in with—and why?

  • Practice: Read and Re-read Romans 12:2 as many times as it takes – “And be not conformed to this world...” (KJV) “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you.” (NLT) Do you pay attention to the ‘thoughts you think’ enough to know the patterns, healthy and healthy, wise and foolish? These patterns create our behaviors, our actions. These patterns then broadcast into our body and life. Asking God to see how we can transform and guide us to change the thoughts we are thinking in our mind is valuable and wise. It took us a bit to come to understand and know how valuable it is to look at what the world is doing versus what God says is best, NOT only for us, yet for everyone. Do you live with wisdom from God or meDOM from the School of Hard Knox? The ‘behaviors and customs’ of this world may look harmless, yet give it another look. They are the temptations that distract us from what God really has for us and divide and separate us. They lead to discouragement, distress, disaster, and disease. What ‘thoughts do you think’, unconsciously and consciously, from in the morning when you wake to when you go to sleep? There is a difference. And, the thoughts that are unconscious run your life by about 95% on autopilot. Make the time to be more ‘conscious’ with your thinking. Do you have the discipline over your thoughts? Do you listen to what Spirit says is best or what society, culture, masses, the world says? We each decide what we do with the ‘thoughts’ we have. Learn to choose them wisely. It takes practice to SLOW DOWN our thinking, yet the payoff is well worth it!

  • Apply: Examine areas where you might be conforming to peer pressure, culture, or trends that compromise your body and life, your walk with God. Are you conforming? Do you know how influenced you are unconsciously when you are on your phone, around people, using any kind of technology, reading a book, listening to music, talking with people, and more? How much are you influenced by people who do NOT have your best interest yet theirs in mind, the music you listen to, what you read, what you hear, what you unconsciously pick up from technology and people you are around? Do you even know or CARE? We invite you to SLOW DOWN and do Quiet Time so you can become more aware and start paying attention to what you spend your quality time on throughout the day. Remember, you are worth it!

  • Live: Boldly CHOOSE ONE way this week to STAND OUT—wear a healthier, wiser, and more comfortable outfit for God instead of whoever you may be trying to fit in with or please or get noticed from, minimize your Social Media time by going to your Settings and limit how long you are on there (decrease the time each day so by Day 7 you are OFF it the whole day), spend Quality Time with your loved ones with NO technology by grocery shopping together and then cooking a meal together, eating it, and cleaning up together and play a game after, do Quiet Time everyday by starting with 2 minutes 3 times a day and by Day 7 at least 5 minutes 3 times a day, turn off your technology at least 60 to 120 minutes before going to bed, do NOT have your technology in the bedroom with you, do some yoga, tapping, breathing every day, dance, and the list goes on. Take a step towards God instead of the masses and peer pressure, meDOM. You will be thankful you did!
