Shame reminds us we were never meant to carry sin alone
Practice: Read Genesis 3:10 – Adam said, “He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” We hide when our shame feels too heavy to face. We hide because we are scared of our fears and other people. We hide because of our behaviors. We hide because we KNOW we did WRONG and need to make it right, our conscience keeps repeating it for us, louder every time. We hide because we were taught to, it is a learned behaviors, programming, conditioning. We hide because we do NOT know what to do. Any of these ring true for you? Apply: Like Adam and Eve, we hide when we feel shame. But God came looking for them. He still comes looking for you. Don’t run from that God-given conviction. God is right inside of you, he is speaking from within you and all around you, in your body and your life. Each time we hit the ai button (avoid and ignore), it gets louder and bigger. Live: Confess. Bring it into the light. Invite God into the places where you’ve hidden behind fear and shame. Invite other reliable people in your life who will support you and push you to be who God created you to be. Remember, ‘the company we keep’, 1 Cor 15:33 ("Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character'") and Proverbs 13:20 ("He who walks with the wise will become wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm").
